In Memoriam: Prof. George Magoha - Champion of Curriculum Reform and Parental Involvement in Education

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Prof. George Magoha, a visionary leader who dedicated his life to transforming education in Kenya. His passing is a great loss to the nation, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the monumental changes he brought about in the Kenyan education system.

Prof. Magoha's relentless efforts to ensure curriculum reform was implemented in Kenya will always be remembered. He believed that education is the key to unlocking the full potential of a nation and dedicated his career to ensuring that every child in Kenya had access to quality education. He recognized that the education system was in dire need of reform, and he set out to make the necessary changes to ensure that Kenya's children were equipped with the knowledge and skills they needed to succeed in the 21st century.

One of his most notable efforts was his strong defense of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). He believed that the CBC approach would better equip students with the skills they needed to succeed in the modern world, and he worked tirelessly to ensure its implementation. He also made sure that parents were involved in their children's learning, recognizing the important role they play in a child's education.

As the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Prof. Magoha worked tirelessly to bring about curriculum reform, which aimed to make education more inclusive, relevant, and responsive to the needs of the country. He understood that a one-size-fits-all approach to education was not suitable for a diverse country like Kenya, and he worked to develop a curriculum that reflected the diverse cultures and languages of the country. He also recognized the importance of technology in education and worked to integrate it into the curriculum to enhance learning and prepare students for the future.

Under his leadership, the Kenyan education system underwent a major overhaul, with the introduction of new subjects, the revising of existing ones and the adoption of new teaching methodologies. He also implemented new policies that ensured that every child had access to education, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Despite the challenges he faced, Prof. Magoha never wavered in his commitment to improving education in Kenya. He was a true leader who led by example, and his dedication and passion for education will be remembered by generations to come.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Kenya has lost a great leader, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us as we work to build a brighter future for the children of our nation. Rest in Peace Professor George Magoha.
